Welcome to the first Barefoot Records newsletter of 2014.
For almost the whole of February, the Winter Jazz Festival takes place all over Denmark and Barefoot Records once again presents a program of terrific music at Christianshavns Beboerhus in Copenhagen.
Old-time favorites as well as new ensembles are on the bill, from solo concerts to large ensembles. Check the schedule in the bottom of the news letter and consult our homepage for details.
Four new releases are due with the coming of spring, ranging from the Finnish improvising trio Innanen/Pesonen/Kallio, the chamber ensemble of Maria Faust Sacrum Facere, performing music inspired by Estonian folk songs, to the double trio of pianist Jeppe Zeeberg and Horse Orchestra’s free-wheeling New Orleans-freakadelica. Definitely something to look forward to. Another Danish Music Award-nominee was Bird Alert and Dane TS Hawk and His Cop Jazz Festsemble and Kasper Tom 5 was on The New York City Jazz Records Honorable Mention List.
The releases of the last year have been receiving excellent reviews and it is worth to point out that Maria Faust Jazz Catastrophe has been nominated
for both the Danish Jazz Music Awards (Jazz Composer of The Year) as well as the Estonian Grammy (Best Jazz Album of the year and Best Artwork).
On the 1st and 2nd of May, Barefoot Records will invade Berlin, playing two nights at the Aufsturz Club (organized by Jazzkeller 69). Stay posted for more.
