Barefoot in August: Barefoot Records @ Galleri Krebsen
Barefoot Records is proud to present a festival of avant-garde and experimental music in a beautiful backyard in inner Copenhagen.
The Danish music collective and record company Barefoot Records consists of eight musicians from the experimental end of Copenhagen’s jazz scene. From the 14th to the 16th August 2020, the collective will host a series of both diverse and explosive concerts at Galleri Krebsen, which is located in a backyard in the ‘Pisserenden’ quarter of Copenhagen.
Each of Barefoot Records’ musicians will present eight completely different concert experiences, with a focus on free improvisation and newly composed music. This year, Barefoot welcomes Carolyn Goodwin and Maria Dybbroe, who as new members of the collective will play with the recently established ‘Copenhagen Clarinet Choir’ and the saxophone trio ‘Coriolis’ with fellow Barefoot member Nana Pi. The intimate backyard of Galleri Krebsen provides the perfect setting to enjoy a cold beer or glass of wine, and to open ones ears to new music.
Barefoot Records was founded in 2006 and was quickly dubbed “one of the most interesting new labels in Danish jazz” by the magazine AllAboutJazz. The collective consists of 8 musicians from Denmark, Poland, Norway, Sweden and Ireland who, in addition to organizing concerts, have an ever-growing catalog of 63 record releases.
The concerts are supported by Statens Kunstfond, Dansk Musiker Forbund and Københavns Kommunes Musikudvalg.
